DSST iBT (Internet Based Testing)

The dsstTM ("DSST") Program (formerly DANTES Program) is a credit-by-examination testing program.

University of Houston Students please review the Credit by Exam Brochure and consult with your academic advisor if you are attempting to earn test credit through this program.

Colleges, universities, and corporations use DSSTs to measure knowledge in a particular subject area.  Based on the achievement of a passing examination score, candidates can receive college credit or continuing education credit. Each establishment determines its passing scores for each DSST.

The DSST Program offers 37 test titles in a wide range of college-level academic, technical, and business subjects. Some of the test areas are subjects that people may have been introduced to through a hobby or special interest, e.g., astronomy, anthropology, and art. Some of the tests cover material people have learned on the job, e.g., financial accounting, banking, personnel supervision, and law enforcement.

Most DSSTs are multiple choice; a few, however, require an essay or a recorded speech.
